MSM offers several scholarships for privately funded students. Please have a look at the program page of your interest for more information (tab scholarships) or click the links below to go directly to the scholarship information for each program:

Students applying for MBA and MM need to do so via MSM application portal first before applying in
the Atlas system (ie they first need an admissions letter), while students applying for EP programs can apply directly in the Atlas system.

Scholarships from the Dutch Government are handled through Nuffic via 

Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) The OKP (former NFP) program awarded by the Netherlands organization for international co-operation in higher education (NUFFIC) enables professionals from 28 countries to join MSM programs. The overall aim of OKP to advance the development of the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals, and institutions in higher and vocational education.

The Dutch government offers scholarships to international students Orange Knowledge Programme (previously NFP). The aim of OKP is to aid the development of the capacity, knowledge and quality of individuals as well as institutions in the field of higher and vocational education. 

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is open to women and men from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master degree program in a development-related topic.   

Subject to available funding, JJWBGSP offers scholarships for master degree programs in  key areas of development. After earning their degree, developing country scholars commit to return to their home country to use their new skills and contribute to their countries’ social and economic development.

A JJWBGSP scholarship provides tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and travel allowance. View a detailed list of benefits.

The German NGO Dreilinden gGmbHOpens external has granted ISS a scholarship for capacity building in the area of decent work, social inclusion and sexuality discourses for lesbian, gay, trans- and intersexual (LGBTI) persons. Dreilinden provides a scholarship for MA students from the Global South and East.

The selected applicants will participate in the Social Policy for Development Major of the ISS MA Programme in Development Studies.

The Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) programme is a collection of scholarships offered by Dutch higher education institutions, multinationals and government institutes. The scholarships are administered by Nuffic and offered to excellent students from these countries who wish to pursue the MA in Development Studies at ISS:

  • Mexico
  • India
  • Korea
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Russia

ISS established two funds to support students without any other form of scholarship. Both funds are open to Dutch and international students who wish to enroll in the MA in Development Studies at ISS. Students need to have a letter of admission from ISS.  

Please note that the ISS funds are not available to students intending to pursue a PhD at ISS.

 

ISS Scholarship Fund for Excellent Students

ISS Hardship Fund

ISS offers scholarships for excellent students, each worth 40% of the tuition fee. The following candidates can apply:

  • People with relevant work experience, a degree in one of the social sciences (upper second or first class) and a strong motivation to study at ISS, or
  • Recent graduates with a first class degree in one of the social sciences and a strong motivation to study at ISS.

Students who do not comply with the criteria for the scholarship fund for excellent students but do not have sufficient means to pay the entire tuition fee can apply to the ISS Hardship Fund.

This fund can provide a fee discount of up to 30% of the tuition fee.

Applications to this fund are dealt with on an ongoing basis.

as soon as possible (but before 15 June at the latest).

The decisions on allocation of the scholarship are taken on an ongoing basis. Students selected for the scholarship bursaries will be informed by the student office.
