The Netherlands Institutions Alumni Association Nigeria (NIAAN)

The Netherlands Institutions Alumni Association Nigeria (NIAAN) a registered alumni association is meant to connect former
students from Nigeria who had previously studied in any Dutch Higher education schools in the Netherlands either as NUFFIC
Alumni (NFP Awardees), self sponsored students or those sponsored by any other funding /private organization.

The alumni body was formed in 2010 by some like mind alumni members though registered with Nigerian government in 2018. The key
objective of the association is to provide a platform for members to share experiences, knowledge and skills among members and
also strengthen partnership between people and government of Nigerian and the Netherlands. Over 5,000 Nigerians have studied in
various universities and institutions in the Netherlands and have been awarded PhDs, Masters and Diploma through the Netherlands
Fellowship Program Sponsorships and others.

The Association is a non-political, non-profit organization aimed at fostering interaction among its members that benefits their
careers and promotes good relations between the Netherlands and Nigeria.

We have members from various disciplines and from all walks of life coming together for a common ground basically to give back
to our society having acquired knowledge for the development of our societies back home from the Netherlands.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  •  To promote spirit of Fellowship and co-operation among all members.
  • To provide opportunities to its members to meet and exchange ideas with prominent Dutch Institutions and Professionals; Scientists, educationist, engineers, economists, artistes, experts and diplomats visiting Nigeria or resident in the Netherlands.
  • To promote interface / engagement with Dutch higher education Institutes attended by Alumni for the purpose of technical advices and consultancy.
  • To assist Prospective Nigerian students’ especially Mid-career professionals proceeding to the Netherlands for study purposes with all required information and advice relating to courses and the Dutch way of life.
  • To strengthen cultural ties between Nigeria and the Netherlands as a nation.
  • To promote, stimulate or undertake educational, social, cultural and development projects in collaboration with Universities, Institutes and friendship associations in Nigeria and or in the Netherlands.
  • To distribute among members periodic newsletters, bulletin or journal (in English) on current activities of the association, members, and about such other matters beneficial to their capacity development and welfare.
  • To administer a number of higher education Scholarships endowed by various donors in the Netherlands, Nigeria and or those endowed by the NIAAN.
